Syria

The conflict that began in March 2011 as part of the Arab Spring escalated into a devastating civil war. After more than a decade of conflict, Syria remained deeply affected by widespread displacement, economic collapse, and deteriorating living conditions. The February 2023 earthquake further compounded an already critical humanitarian situation.

Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, the country entered a transitional period. While this transition offers new opportunities, Syria continues to face significant challenges, including sectarian violence, economic hardship, institutional recovery, and the need for inclusive governance to build a peaceful and sustainable future.

Fight for Humanity has been working in partnership with War Child Alliance and the Salam for Hope Foundation to address the urgent needs of children, youth, and caregivers affected by the conflict, and to expand efforts to assist children in detention, prevent recruitment by armed groups, radicalisation, and extremism, and support reintegration into society.
