Colombia

Following the 2016 Peace Agreement between the Colombian Government and the FARC-EP, Colombia entered a new phase of peacebuilding. Despite important progress, armed groups continue to compete for territorial control and illicit economies, particularly in regions such as Cauca, with serious consequences for civilian populations. While the Total Peace policy launched in 2022 sought to expand dialogue with armed actors and reduce violence, insecurity has persisted in many conflict-affected areas. As Colombia enters a new political transition in 2026, strengthening local peacebuilding, protecting civilians, and addressing the root causes of conflict remain essential to achieving lasting peace

In Colombia, Fight for Humanity promotes dialogue, reconciliation, and civilian protection through both programming and research. In partnership with Gestos de Paz, the organisation supports the implementation of the Truth Commission's recommendations and strengthens dialogue and coexistence in Cauca. At the same time, it contributes to the Beyond Compliance Consortium, led by the University of York, by conducting research on the behaviour of state and non-state armed actors to inform efforts to reduce civilian harm.
