Sudan

The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has led to a widespread humanitarian crisis, including devastating consequences for Sudan’s rich cultural heritage. Museums, historic sites, libraries, archives, and religious monuments have suffered extensive damage.

In collaboration with the Centre on Armed Groups and Sudanese heritage Professionals, Fight for Humanity is leading a project, funded by ALIPH, aimed at strengthening the protection of cultural heritage. Whereas fighting continues, it is urgent to engage all parties in the conflict to prevent further destruction and looting, in compliance with International Humanitarian Law.
