Maison de la Paix – DCAF Offices, Pétale 5, 9th floor
Fight for Humanity, in partnership with the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, the City of Geneva, and DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, are pleased to invite you to a discussion on the current challenges of peacebuilding in Colombia and the crucial role of locally led initiatives in reconciliation processes.
At a time when major global crises dominate international attention, Colombia’s protracted conflict risks fading from the global agenda. Despite the 2016 Peace Agreement and the government’s “Total Peace” policy, many regions continue to face persistent violence, the presence of armed groups, illicit economies, and deep-rooted social tensions. The department of Cauca remains particularly affected, especially among Indigenous, Afro-Colombian, rural, and youth communities.
The event will offer an opportunity to explore how sustainable peace can be built in Colombia’s most vulnerable regions, and why locally led reconciliation remains essential to translating national commitments into meaningful change. It will also highlight the ongoing work of Fight for Humanity and its partner Gestos de Paz in Cauca, where both organizations support grassroots peacebuilding initiatives within local communities, with the support of the City of Geneva.
