Fight for Humanity:

Founded in March 2019, Fight for Humanity is a Swiss-based non-governmental organization that seeks to reinforce respect for the rights of people exposed to human rights abuses in situations of violence and conflict. ​It currently implements programs in the Middle East on child protection, the protection of cultural heritage, and peace and social cohesion. 

Role:

The Project Coordinator will coordinate Fight for Humanity’s activities to support the implementation of the project “Empowerment and Engagement of Community Mechanisms with Local Authorities to Promote Social Cohesion” in Iraq.  They will liaise with the Geneva headquarters and work closely with the leading organization of this project, the Public Aid Organization (PAO), and the Alliance of Iraqi Minorities (AIM), a partner organization of this project. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of activities defined under the project under the supervision of the Head of Operations.  

  • Ensure all administrative and logistical support is in place to facilitate the successful implementation of the project. 

  • Meet and regularly coordinate with other project partners to ensure the implementation of all planned activities.  

  • Supervise the use of all financial resources, keep up-to-date accounts, and provide a monthly financial statement to Geneva. 

  • Provide monthly narrative reports and lead monitoring of project activities implemented by Fight for Humanity.  

  • Report regularly to the Head of Operations and Head of Development on financial, administrative, operational, security, and logistical matters.  

  • Monitor the social and political situation in the region; identify potential security risks, undertake mitigation measures, report on any security incidents, and ensure follow-up on incidents as appropriate.  

  • Support the selection of service providers, when needed, in line with Fight for Humanity’s procurement guidelines.  

  • Perform any other duties as required by Headquarters if needed.  

  • Support travel arrangements for Geneva-based staff and other resource persons. 

  • Start and follow up Fight for Humanity’s registration process in KRI. 

  • Conduct any background research as required.  

General:  

  • Work within the framework of Fight for Humanity’s core values, promoting its mission. 

  • Commit to read and respect all Fight for Humanity’s current ethic and organizational policies  

  • Work towards achieving Fight for Humanity’s organization and program-level objectives.  

  • Participate in Fight for Humanity training activities as required.  

  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required. 

Conditions: 

  • Based in the Erbil-Kurdistan Region of Iraq 

  • 100%, consultancy contract 

  • 10.5 months with possible extension based on needs and resources 

  • Salary: USD 1500/month 

  • Direct reporting line to the Head of Operations of Fight for Humanity in Geneva, Switzerland 

Required experiences and skills: 

  • Three years of experience in project coordination and administration 

  • A master's degree in international law or any other relevant field 

  • Working experience with humanitarian, development, human rights, or similar actors in Iraq. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English in addition to Arabic and/or Kurdish, 

  • Computer skills (proficiency in MS Office, notably Excel, Word) 

  • Willingness and ability to work in a challenging work environment 

 

Preferred experiences and skills: 

  • Work experience from international projects and/or with international organizations or INGOs 

  • Good understanding of the Iraqi local and community mechanisms, 

  • Good knowledge of social cohesion, mediation, and local peace agreement. 

  • Experience in security management
